The Govt. of Karnataka has allocated 78.9MW
wind farm to Bhoruka Power Corporation Ltd
during 2009 in Gadag District for
development of wind farms under three
phases.
Under 1st phase 25.5MW wind farm comprising
of 17units of 1.5MW wind turbine generators
were installed in Yelisirur village, Gadag
Hobli-Taulk-District and commissioned on
18.05.2012.
Each WTG is connected with KPTCL grid via a
unit transformer of 1.6MVA 0.69/33kV.
Generation from all the 17 WTGs is
transmitted by three numbers of 33kV
intra-farm lines upto Yelisirur Pooling
Station for a distance of 9.43Ckms and
pooled energy at 33kV level is fed to
KPTCL’s Sub-station at Shirahatti at 110kV
level via a 30MVA 33/110kV Power Transformer
& a 110kV SC line on DC towers for a
distance of 4.72Ckms. Wind farm is under
operation with SCADA.

A pilot project of 1.7MW WTG(Proto
Unit) is installed & commissioned jointly by
GE& BPCL in the vicinity of Yelisirur wind
farm during march-2013 to avail CWET
certification from Govt. of India by GE so
as to release 1.7MW machines into the
market. The new unit has successfully
complied all type tests as required for
certification.
